Nighttime Potty Training

by Paul Jason James

For some children, nighttime potty training can be an easy and smooth transition from their daytime routine.

For these kids, simply being able to conquer bladder control during the day develops their nighttime habits enough that they are able to stay dry the majority of the time.

You may feel frustrated if your child is one of the many who have difficulty maintaining bladder control. But it's not your fault, and certainly not your child's fault. While they may have properly applied daytime bladder control, keep in mind that this is in large part a voluntary process.

At night, however, despite the child's best intentions, sometimes the signal from the bladder to the brain indicating that it is full simply doesn't come through.

For this reason, a positive attitude is a must during nighttime potty training, just as it is during the day. Having a low-stress environment where the child's self-esteem and well being are cared for facilitates the process of developing this communication from bladder to brain in the child.

This means being ready to give positive feedback for every dry night and not holding them responsible for accidents-remember, children have no more conscious control over nighttime potty training than you have over snoring or turning over when you sleep. It simply takes time.

As a parent, you can create a positive atmosphere where both you and the child are taking action while the child is awake. This means limiting evening fluid consumption and checking to make sure they make a final bathroom stop before going to sleep.

Synthetic sheets are also very useful for this as they make cleaning up after an accident a simple matter.

Having a no-fuss attitude about accidents-even if it's in the middle of the night-is an essential aspect of proper nighttime potty training. You may not be thrilled to be up at 4AM changing sheets, but just remember that the child doesn't want to be in that situation anymore than you do.

You can mitigate any feelings of shame or embarrassment by staying cool and collected. Simply change the sheets, help them go to the bathroom one more time, and go back to bed. No big deal.

Successful Potty Training is all about patience and consistent effort that will pay off over time

Get ready for your birthday boy or girl to step into the spotlight. You can help make that debut a memorable occasion with a variety of stylish and practical American Idols party supplies.

Start by sending out some American Idol Invitations. But be prepared for a horde of hopefuls to show up at your door. Ask them in and greet them with a 61"w x 18"h American Idol Personalized Banner. It's designed with the same cool colors and logos used for the show. You choose the words so the cheering crowd shouts out "Happy Birthday" or "Welcome, Stars!" or anything else.

Luckily, it's not difficult to judge which party pack is best. Opt for an American Idol Deluxe Pack and you'll get first prize. The package holds everything you need to make your party easy: plates, cups, napkins, activity placemats, and much more. With a very hip design, you'll probably want to add the centerpiece as well to add to your collection.

Set the 'contestants' down at the table and let them 'ooh' and 'ahh' about that stellar cake you made. Make sure they have some cool-looking cups for the refreshment. Judges agree that the American Idol Microphone Cup is the perfect choice. Each guest will want to take one home as a keepsake, for sure.

Give each entrant an American Idol Favor Box that holds fun items. The Play Microphone is the first thing they'll notice but wait, there's more. There's a Gel Pen and Notepad they can use to collect signatures from all the performers at the party. Dig a little deeper and find some great CD-shaped bubblegum and a hip sticker sheet.

It's no surprise that the microphone-theme is used in the design of the American Idol Pinata. At 21" it will hold tons of goodies for all the megastars that will gather around underneath, waiting for the birthday boy or girl to pull the string. Remember to order the filler at the same time - 90 assorted goodies, like miniature maracas, yo-yos, kaleidoscope spy glasses, and several varieties of candy.

If you plan some games be sure to order some Contestant Number Kits. Everyone will get a chance to take the stage. Turn the spotlight on, crank up the music and you be the judge of the outcome.

Hand each performer a Pop-Mic Candy. This colorful, transparent toy holds a ton of rock candy in different colors. Pop the top or open it in the middle, extract a piece of candy, and put the whole thing back together in time for the performance of a lifetime.

When the winner has been decided award a piece of cake to every singer who rocked the party. Use the American Idol Cake Topper as a trophy. It lights up a miniature stage that holds a tiny superstar. Your cake design will get lots of cheers and the winner will have a great keepsake to take home.

Stock up on American Idol birthday party goods and get ready to show the world you are a star performer, too.
