Meeting Your Babies Needs

by Kathy Robinson

Hooray!! There will soon be a new addition to the family. Now is the time to begin planning for the baby so that you can make sure that you have all the essentials and are ready for the bundle of joy. It is important to begin your research so that your stress is reduced and you can focus on your child.

Crib and Bedding

Getting a crib for your child as well as the colorful and playful bedding that goes along with it is probably the most important furniture that you will need to add to your nursery. Whether it is a family heirloom or a new crib you will want to make sure that it is sturdy and can survive a few bumps and spills. Also, you want to make sure that the baby will not be able to easily climb or fall out of the crib as they get a little older and more mobile.

Baby bedding can be found in a multitude of colors and fanciful styles that will entertain any boy or girl. Just make sure that the material is soft and sturdy as it will have to survive many washing and all kinds of spills and you will want it to be just as soft for your baby after six months as it is when you first get it.

Diapers

Changing out the baby's diapers is never fun, but you want to make sure that you are getting the highest quality diaper that you can afford. Cheap diapers can often leak, especially as your baby gets older and more mobile, so it is important to find a brand that allows for good movement while keeping everything contained.

There are several different brands of diaper disposal systems that you will want to research to make sure that you only buy one. These help you quickly thrown away the diapers and help you maintain an odor free environment in the house. Some of these diaper pails have restrictions on the bags they use which leads to buying more expensive trash bags, so keep that in mind when deciding between brands.

Baby Bottles

This is an important topic to research because there has been a lot of news in the last couple years about the health and safety of the different baby bottle materials. Make your own decision as to whether to buy glass bottles or plastic. The most important thing is that your baby is healthy and that the baby bottle is functional for you.

There are obviously many other kinds of baby supplies that you will need to pick up over the first year of your new babys life, but this should give you a good start and help you as you buy baby supplies.

Understanding Child Birth

by Karen Rich

When you initially find out you're expecting your first child, "how am I going to survive child birth" might be one of the things that springs to mind. How can you explain the experience of child birth when it's your first time because you don't know what's happening and you're probably a little worried. Today, preparation for the big event is much easier even though every woman experiences child birth differently.

The more you learn about child birth, and what your options are, the less scared you will be. One choice you will be given is whether you want to have natural birth or the use of painkillers. This decision will be entirely up to you and your wishes. When it comes to using drugs during child birth, there are a thousand different opinions out there, but the only one that counts is yours. Anything you are unsure about can most likely be answered by your doctor who probably has experience with it anyway.

Although it is not always possible, it is always preferable to try and give birth to your baby as close to nine months as possible. Your doctor is there for you so don't let him or her down by failing to show up to appointments and ignoring advice given to you. The health of your child could be put at risk if you go into labor early and could make the birth even harder than it needs to be. Remember, you doctor has experience in this so listen to he or she says and try to stay healthy by eating the right foods.

Taking advice from your doctor may not be what you want to do but if they say you need to rest more, they mean it. There are always things you can do to learn more about child birth including going to local classes held at your hospital, where you will be taught more about the birth itself, how to reduce pain and make the birth less stressful for the baby. These classes can help alleviate your fears, and give you more confidence when it is time to face the unknown.

If you are still scared when the time comes, remember the outcome of child birth, and you will see that any pain will be well worth it. You won't have any regrets once you hold your baby in your arms for the first time.
