Buying Baby Clothes? Money Saving Tips & More

Newborn baby clothes don't wear out but they are very soon outgrown. Having a baby is an expensive time so anything you can do to save money has got to be a bonus. Set out below are some tips to think about when you next shop for baby clothes.
* Always buy a larger size than they actually need because babies grow so fast. Clothes that fit perfectly now will probably be too small in a few weeks. Buying baby clothes in a larger size will extend the amount of time they will be able to wear them, thus saving you money.
* When checking the size labels on the clothes look at them in terms of age, for instance 6 or 9 months , and then think about what the season is going to be when your child reaches that age. Not only will you have clothes that fit but that are also right for the time of year.
* If you have ever struggled to get a wriggling or crying baby dressed you will be aware that choosing clothes with back openings or that go over the head is not a good idea. Front opening outfits with either poppers or velcro fastenings save you and your baby a lot of stress.
* It is a good idea to have at least three or four changes of baby clothes per day in case of messy spills. Babies are notorious for spilling food down their clothes or being sick or dribbling down themselves so having enough changes of clothes is essential.
* A great way to save money is to shop for baby clothes during big sales events at the stores, you can pick up some good bargains. Another good place to look is on the clearance rails which a lot of stores have especially when they are restocking for a new season.
* Don't be too proud to accept hand me downs from family and friends. This can save you a lot of money and as babies from birth to about nine months do not wear their clothes out many will be nearly new. You may also find that some of the outfits haven't even been worn as often parents are given far more clothes than their baby needs.
* You can make a little bit of money by selling your nearly new baby clothes on line (eBay for example) or in a yard sale or perhaps a thrift shop. Although you probably won't get back the money you paid for them originally you should make a little bit of cash.
These are just some of the ways you can save money when shopping for baby clothes. I'm sure there are many more. So before you go on the next baby clothes shopping spree it's worth remembering some of these ideas.
