While children readily use their imagination and love to learn, do not try to teach the alphabet, numbers or anything else to a child who is not ready. It will simply frustrate you and the child and quite possibly affect the child's learning for years. Regardless of when the child is ready to be taught, the rug will provide lots of fun for and learning opportunities for many years.
